Having Porcelain Veneers Installed

It usually takes up to three appointments to have your porcelain veneers properly placed. During your first appointment, your dentist will focus on diagnosis and treatment planning. After that, the second appointment will be dedicated to preparing for the surgery. The third and final appointment is to finalize the bonding of the veneers.

During the second visit, your dentist will spend several hours preparing your teeth for the surgery by buffing the surface in order to make room for the porcelain veneers. This process usually involves removing about a half a millimeter of the tooth. Depending on the patient, this may require a local anesthetic. After your teeth are buffed, your dentist will take a mold of your teeth and send it to an Orange County porcelain veneers lab for the creation of your veneers.

On your third visit, which will last approximately two hours, the veneers will actually be placed onto your teeth. This is accomplished using a combination of water and glycerine.
